Community Service Hours

Performing community service is a wonderful way for KISP middle school scholars to contribute to and learn about the community. The following guidelines are designed to help parents and scholars understand the procedures for performing community service and recording the hours.
 
General Guidelines
Middle school scholars are highly encouraged to perform 30 community service hours in each school year.
  • A minimum of 15 hours of volunteer service completed and recorded on your service log from summer break and during the 1st semester must be submitted by January 9th, 2026.
  • The total 30 hours should be completed by May 15th, 2026. 
 
City of Vacaville Mayoral Volunteer Service Award
This award is presented by the City of Vacaville and is signed by the current mayor, in recognition and appreciation for your commitment to strengthen our community through volunteerism. This award is a great way to enhance your first-time job resume, acceptance into high school clubs/programs, and applications for college admissions or scholarships. 
  • A service medal and certificate is given to scholars who complete 50 or more hours during the school year. 
  • Hours are to be maintained on your personal Kairos Community Service Log, then uploaded and submitted no later than May 15th, 2026 to qualify for this award.
 
Community Service Opportunities
Scholars may earn community service hours at any event where they serve others within the community. All community service must be outside of the scholar’s own household.
  • If you are unsure if a particular activity is appropriate, please contact KISP Academic Advisor Carrie Pedersen for clarification at [email protected].
  • For an Event Organized by the School or an Event within the community
    • Service logs must be signed by the event coordinator at time of event. 
    • Parents may NOT sign in place of the event coordinator (exception: volunteering at a family business or at a parents' place of employment).

 

Recording Hours on the Community Service Logs
  • Community Service Logs are submitted by clicking the Upload and Submit Service Hours Log button below.
  • All categories on the Community Service Logs must be completed for an event. Incomplete logs will not be accepted.
